WOODS (Ten Years Later)
Work in progress
Ten years have passed since the two siblings were placed in the forest by their mother, wearing their parents' faces. Like Hansel and Gretel in the Brothers Grimm's fairy tale, they have strayed from the path, got lost but at the same time found home.
The childhood years are now behind them and they are taking center stage in their own stories.
They are writing the next chapter and are seeking for their narratives.
Will they roam the streets or return home?
Is the reward approaching , or was survival the ultimate story?
The magical portal they once knew is no longer the same, it has cracked and aged like everything else. The forest is pathless and overgrown.
Only the sky remains the same.
They are outside the human world. In the wastelands.
Yet it feels familiar, as they have grown to understand each other over the years. Now, this familiarity resides within their beings, not just surrounding it.
They wear their own faces these days. The masks are thick-skinned and force you to look inward. We try to wear them for you sometimes but it's impossible.
I promise to blow air under your wings if you crash land. Because as swifts, you cannot take flight without assistance. Nobody can.
